New 3.5 GHz 802.16e WiMAX Compatible Amplifiers Add 1 Watt Power to Wireless Transmissions

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - 6/14/12 - L-com, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of wired and wireless connectivity products, has released two new wireless RF amplifiers designed to add 1 Watt of power to 3.5 GHz transmissions, typically used in 802.16e WiMAX wireless applications. The new amplifiers, which are available for export, military, licensed amateur radio and OEM component sales only, can add up to 30 dBm output power to 3.5 GHz antennas. The HA3501I-1000 is for indoor applications only, while the HA3501-1000 is designed for outdoor applications and comes with a DC injector, 12 VDC power supply, and mast mount kit.

Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is an IP based wireless broadband access technology that provides performance similar to 802.11 and Wi-Fi networks but has the coverage and quality of service (QOS) of cellular networks. Standardized by IEEE 802.16, it is intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks". The new amplifiers suit these applications where a greater range or signal strength is desired.

Due to FCC regulations, the new amplifiers are not offered for general sale within the USA (see FCC Part 15 and Part 97 Notice in L-com's Terms & Conditions). For FCC supported applications, the new amplifiers will be stocked in L-com's Florida distribution center for same-day shipments.
