USB 3.0 cables are up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 - 4.8 Gbps versus 480 Mbps. The increased bandwidth substantially reduces the time required for transferring large amounts of data or video. For example, an HD movie that would require 14 minutes to download with USB 2.0 devices and cables would take approximately 70 seconds using USB 3.0 equipment. The key change in the cables allowing for more speed is the addition of two data pairs bringing the number of conductors to eight.
