The RMSP-CAT5S-4 provides protection for four CAT5 data lines. The unit is fully compatible with industry-standard 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) devices and 10/100 Base-T Ethernet networks, providing protection to both Ethernet data pairs as well as the PoE power feed. The unit supports both 802.3af modes A and B supplying power. Power can be fed up the CAT5 data pairs, 1-2, 3-6 or using the two unused pairs, 4-5, 7-8. Each module supports both AC and +/- DC power. The RMSP-CAT5S-4 features shielded RJ45 jacks for use with of shielded CAT5 cable.
High-speed semiconductors clamp any voltage, positive or negative on the wires. The limits are +/- 58 volts on the four cable pairs. The unit is compatible with both normal and inverted polarity voltage PoE equipment. The design utilizes Thyristor diode technology which has superior power handling capability compared to TVS or Avalanche diode based designs.
This arrestor is compatible with 10 and 100 Base-T Network appliance with or without PoE capability. This includes Wireless Access Points, Wired Switches, Network Appliances, Outdoor Wireless Routers and CCTV IP Cameras. A ground lug and terminal is provided to allow connection to the rack system ground.
