FAQs
What's the difference between Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6a RJ45 connectors?
L-com provides Cat6a, Cat6, and Cat5e rated RJ45 plug (8x8) Ethernet connectors in 0.88, 0.89, 1.47, and 1.75 inch lengths with crimp cable attachment method. Cat6a and Cat6 connectors are available with integrated strain relief boots that hold the cable in proper position while crimping and provide protection to the cable connection after installation. All three categories provide reliable and secure connections between networking devices and Ethernet cables.
What conductor sizes do RJ45 connectors accommodate?
Our RJ45 male connectors are designed for conductors having 0.037 to 0.042 inch, 0.033 to 0.038 inch, 0.027 to 0.030 inch, 0.044 to 0.048 inch, or 0.042 to 0.048 inch outside diameters. Pull through RJ45 plugs are designed for solid or stranded conductors with outside diameter of 0.037 to 0.040 inches in the 24AWG to 26AWG range. Modular plugs work with 24 AWG to 28 AWG solid or stranded conductors.
What are M12 connectors and what configurations are available?
L-com offers M12 8-position A-code, 4-position D-code, and 8-position X-code mold connectors with solder attachment method in male or female gender options. Our cabling connector category includes M12 4-pin D-code, 8-pin X-code, and 4, 5, or 8 pin A-code field termination connectors, along with M8 3 or 4 position connectors in male or female options for industrial applications.
What field-terminable Ethernet connector options are available?
We provide IP20-rated field terminable Cat6a RJ45 plug, RJ45 jack, and angled RJ45 plug connectors with tool-less IDC cable attachment method for industrial monitoring and control, test and measurement, field installations and repair, and I/O connectivity applications. Field-installable options include Cat5e sealed RJ45 plug kit, ruggedized IP67-rated RJ45 Ethernet plug connector kit, and crimp tool for pull through RJ45 connectors.
What types of strain relief boots does L-com offer?
