Question: I am trying to help a friend make a connection between his laptop (older Dell) and his TV.
His laptop has a female HD15 video out (SVGA ?) connector.
He needs to go to either S-Video or RCA connectors.
I looked for a cable/adapter that would make that match up exactly, but haven't found one. I considered getting a HD15 to 5 BNC adapter, and then adding a BNC to RCA adapter, but I don't know enough about the signals provided on the 5 different BNC lines. If this is the only way to go, which BNC connectors do I map to RCA? Or, is there another option?
Unfortunately, there is no single cable or adapter that can allow your friend to connect his older Dell Computer to his TV. In order to accomplish this, your friend is going to need some sort of scan converter which is capable of converting the output signal from the VGA port of a computer to the S-Video or Composite video ports found on most video projectors and televisions.
While L-com does not carry scan converters, we do offer lots of free information on analog video types that may help you.
