Press Release: L-com Announces the Availability of the Planet FT-807 Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) SMI Media Converter
North Andover, MA, April 20, 2006 -- L-com Connectivity Products has recently added the Planet FT-807 10/100TX to 100FX POF SMI media converter to its active equipment line up. This economical yet robust media converter converts Cat5E/Cat6 to POF via the popular SMI type connector. The SMI (small multimedia interface) port is designed for use with plastic fiber optic cables with a diameter of 1.0mm. POF offers a low-cost, high-speed data transmission solution, which is also immune to RFI and EMI. The SMI interface meets the IEEE 1394b specification and can transmit data up to 50 meters.
