I am looking for a connector that will split out two of the unused lines on my existing cat5 cable to add phone capability without pulling new lines in my building. My network is wired using the 568B standard and I know the blue and blue/white lines are not being used. I would like a connector that terminates in an rj11 two wire line (blue and blue/white) and a rj45 568B (just missing the blue and blue/white lines). I'm looking for something modular that I can use in a standard wall plate. Have you got anything like that in stock?
We created a
network/phone breakout diagram showing how this would work here. Keep in mind that this is only compatible with 10/100Mb Ethernet networks. Here are some other things to keep in mind: Telephone systems can have ring voltages in excess of 90 volts. This voltage can cross over onto the other pairs used in the cable (cross-talk). Network transmissions will not perform to their maximum levels since a different signal type (telephone system)is carried on an adjacent pair. We do not recommend this type of connection for systems that have expensive or hard to replace network ports as the higher voltage could potentially damage the receiving port. Also, it is VERY important that the computer NEVER be connected to the telephone port as this WILL cause damage to the network card.
