Mounting Fiber Optic Adapters to Organize and Neaten your Network Architecture
Any wired network can quickly become a tangled mess, especially as that network grows over time. For that reason, it is a good idea to future-proof your network by building in a network architecture that is neat, organized and scalable. Often, the first place to start with developing such an architecture is with the racks and enclosures in the networking closet or room.
What do we mean by architecture?
A network is composed of two parts: the hardware and the software, and the hardware is usually the hardest to keep controlled. The architecture of a network is the planned layout of the hardware such that operators can make changes, ideally by simply plugging a cable into a panel-mounted adapter that is clearly marked and easily accessible.
L-com’s FSP Series for Superior Fiber Network Architecture
L-com offers many convenient products to iron down the fiber optic network architecture in no time. Start with the FSP series wall-mount enclosures, 19" rack-mount enclosures, DIN-rail mount enclosures or 19" rack panels. Then, simply add as many FSP series sub-panels as you need. We carry them with ST, SC, LC (keyed and un-keyed), MTRJ, and FC. They come in an array of colors to help color-code your network. Or you can purchase blank and unpopulated FSP panels and put the fiber optic adapters on yourself.
MPO Cassettes for breaking out a multi-fiber cable
Often, fiber optic cables are used as backbone wiring to a network. One convenient way to carry multiple signals on a single fiber cable is an MPO ribbon fiber cable. But breaking out a ribbon fiber cable into separate ports can be a hassle. L-com's MPO Cassettes make it easy! They can break one or two 12-fiber MPO connectors into separate SC or LC ports. All of the fiber wiring is done internal to the cassette, meaning someone with very little training can quickly and easily install them. You can have your fiber network up and running in no time, and make it perfectly scalable for future growth. These MPO Cassettes fit in both the wall mount and rack mount enclosures as well as the FSP 19" panels but they don't fit in the DIN-rail mount enclosures yet.
