The majority of PoE devices such as wireless access points, IP cameras and VoIP telephone use 48 VDC as the injected PoE voltage as standardized by IEEE 802.3af. But there are many PoE compatible devices on the market today that require 15 VDC or 24 VDC as the injected voltage. These include radio products from Motorola, Ubiquiti, Engenius and Planet.
To provide protection for these types of devices, L-com now offers a line of CAT5/5e/6 Lightning and Surge Protectors designed to be compatible with PoE devices requiring 15 VDC or 24 VDC as the injected voltage.
These new products are designed to provide protection to both the Ethernet data pairs as well as the PoE DC power feed. Available in indoor and outdoor versions, multi-port and industrial grade versions, all these protectors support PoE modes A and B for supplying DC power.
To view the complete line of 15 VDC and 24 VDC PoE Compatible Protectors please visit the L-com web site. Data sheets and drawings are also available for download.
Note: these protectors are not intended for use with standard 48 VDC PoE devices. L-com does offer a full line of protectors compatible with 48 VDC PoE devices.
