What is digital signage?

Digital Signage is a new but quickly-growing market. It includes signs with digital display capabilities put in public places, either to inform, entertain, or market to consumers. You can see these signs in malls, airports, large retail stores, and a host of other places. Digital displays save time and money as content can be changed on the fly whereas traditional static signs and billboards require on site human intervention each time an advertisement or message is changed.

What are some of the products that allow digital signage to exist?

In order to distribute A/V content to multiple displays a central hub or repeater is used. In many cases these products utilize Category 5e or better cabling to connect the central distribution “hub” to remote units which attach to the individual displays.
