The Security Industry and L-com Products

One of the growing industries that L-com is proud to serve is the security industry.  Whether it be protecting a storefront or property from thieves, or big installations by
the department of Homeland Security, real lives and livelihoods are on the line. 
Here are some items that may help:

Surveillance Cameras

It is a little-known fact that, in addition to its cables, connectors, adapters, and other connectivity products, L-com also carries Planet's line of Surveillance Cameras. While these products are not meant to replace high-tech security measures, they do provide an inexpensive way to monitor small areas.

Lightning Protectors for PoE Cameras  

Security cameras with Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) capability are ideal for installations in remote locations where DC power is not available, such as parking lot light polls and the side or roof of a building. Cameras installed in these type of locations are susceptible to lightning strikes which can not only damage the camera, but the expensive video equipment they are attached to.

Ideal for creating disaster recovery scenarios, SwitchMaster R1000 switches can support RJ45 10/100 Ethernet ports. Standard configurations include 8 or 16 copper RJ45 all in a 1U rack mount enclosure.

Lockable NEMA Enclosures

If you must install electronics in an unsecure area, one strategy to keep them secure is to use a NEMA box enclosure. L-com carries a huge supply of HyperLink brand enclosures including ones with power, power over Ethernet (PoE), and custom mounting plates. CCTV Converter

If your security is based partially or completely on CCTV lines, you may want to consider switching the wiring from Coaxial video to Fiber Optic.  Fiber Optic cables can extend the length up to 2,500 meters away, and, since Fiber Optic cables use light pulses rather than radio frequency to carry the signal, they are virtually impossible to tap or interfere with.

75 Ohm Coaxial Cables

Converting long runs into fiber optic cables is great, but you're still going to need video coax cables to go from the converters to the camera and monitor. Fortunately, L-com has you covered there too. We sell a variety of 75 Ohm coaxial cables, both pre-terminated and in bulk.

Wireless Networking

A few years ago, you would never hear someone mention wireless networking and security in the same sentence. But, recent advances in encryption, MAC filtering, and remote administration can allow you to pin down your wireless network and only allow authorized computers and gadgets to access it.
