The NBase-T Alliance Turbocharges your Enterprise Network

July 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM

Industry heavyweights have joined forces to create the NBase-T Alliance, a collaborative effort to advocate for the industry-wide deployment of NBase-T technology to turbocharge your enterprise network.

Market demand has dictated the need to increase data rates from 1 Gbps to 5 Gbps to meet the explosive bandwidth requirements of newer standards such as 802.11ac Wave 2 and other applications. Thus, the NBase-T Alliance was formed in 2014 with the objective of developing 2.5- and 5-Gigabit Ethernet technology to support enterprise network applications.

The alliance aims to define a new standard by utilizing NBase-T, a game-changing technology proven to bolster the bandwidth capabilities of existing Cat5e and Cat6 cables to 5 Gbps, negating the need for very costly forklift upgrades of existing infrastructure cabling.

NBase-T technology will be implemented on physical layer integrated circuits found in products such as wireless access points and Ethernet switches and routers.

The NBase-T Alliance serves as a unified voice focusing on marketing, education and working with the IEEE on standardization topics. With industry leaders such as Cisco, Aquanita, Freescale and Xilinx, along with additional companies joining the roster, NBase-T Alliance stakeholders represent all major aspects of enterprise networking infrastructure.

The NBase-T Alliance is working to turbocharge your enterprise networks by promoting NBase-T technology as an industry standard, and with industry leaders driving the initiative they may be able to breathe new life into your enterprise network.
